Most Instagrammable Hotels in Bali

We’ve been to Bali for the 3rd time- I guess it’s clear that we love Bali a lot. There is so much to explore, but most important, Bali has the most beautiful hotels in the world! Last time we stayed 6 weeks in Bali and really had the time to test a lot of different hotels. We worked with so many different accommodations and got to know so many amazing people running those spots. So here they are, our top instgrammable Hotels.

Of course some of them can be pretty expensive. We also stayed in a lot of cheep airbnbs and beautiful villas. Affordable fantastic airbnbs could be a blogpost itself. But from time to time a bit of what you fancy does you good, meaning some extraordinary places to stay. 😉

Seminyak and Canggu – The Surfing Area

Only a 45-minute drive away from the airport, you will find the chilled coastal towns Canggu and Seminyak. Vegan cafés, scooter with surfboards and beach vibes are typical for this area.

1. Phinisi Villas

It was such a pleasure to work with Barbara and the villas are absolutely fantastic. They have 6 different villas in the Seminyak area. All of them have a similar style and only differ from their floor plan and the number of bedrooms. On the ground floor you will find a chilled living room and kitchen area with the outdoor pool and on the first floor you can enjoy the amazing bedrooms with their own bathrooms.
All of the villas have a very unique detail: A pool with a window to the living room area. Isn’t that cool?

2. Own Villas

Felicity and her boyfriend put so much heart in the beautiful wooden villas arranged around an amazing blue pool. We felt so welcomed and special there! The eco-friendly villas are 100% built with recycled wood within 2010 and 2012. Due to the use of natural building techniques, they was no need to use screws and nails. Relaxing in one of the villas in the middle of nature and ending the day with a fantastic dinner felt like a dream come true.

3. KIMA Surf Seminyak

KIMA surf is for everyone, who likes to be active in their holidays. Surf lessons, yoga sessions and amazing food – you will get all of that here! And no worries, they also have double rooms for more privacy. You can choose between different surfing levels and daily classes, they also do video analysis of your improving surfing skills.

Ubud – the spiritual center

Ubud is one of our favorite places in Bali. Although there is no ocean around, there are so many amazing villas, vegan restaurants and yoga studios. If you have little time in Bali, Ubud is the best place to do day trips to the East or North of Bali. But it’s also the perfect place to stay longer and to soak in the spiritual vibes.

1. Calma Ubud

A unique private resort overlooking a lush valley, emerald green rice terraces and spectacular sunsets. It really feels like a home away from home. Calma Ubud is consciously designed to blend seamlessly with Bali’s natural surroundings. They have ten individually styled guest rooms and suites. Tropical architecture meets Balinese craftsmanship. It absolutely feels like a sublime retreat to unwind, reconnect with yourself and be one with nature in perfect calmness. You can book a special picnic or a flower bath.

2. Jannata Resort

The pool with the fantastic platform in front of the jungle is pure magic! You can either book a beautiful room with bathtub in front of a big window to the jungle or you book one of the incredible private villas with a pool. The resort is located in the middle of nature, surrounded by jungle and palm trees. It’s a really peaceful place and the view is one of the best in Ubud.

3. DD Bamboo Lodge

This bamboo villa is an absolutely secret tip. A brand new place to enjoy nature! There are two villas connected with stone slabs. But the owners plan more villas in the future. The bigger villa has a round ceiling light and an amazing balcony. The smaller villa has a fantastic outdoor hammock on the first floor. You can directly order some food there or get something to eat with a grab taxi.

4. Adiwana Arya

All Adiwana Arya Villas are built following traditional Javanese House, an antique wooden house. Located in a beautiful secluded area, approximately 15 minutes from the heart of Ubud, Adiwana Arya Villas is a wonderful place to relax. From the pool you have the perfect view of the sunset over the rice fields.

5. Green Village

Green Village is located in the South of Ubud. This place really inspired us with it’s beautiful bamboo architecture, but also with the whole ecological concept. It is closely linked to the Green School with it’s amazing sustainability projects! We found some time to sit back and enjoy this place.

Our awesome host, Pauline, took us on a walk through the surrounding forest and village. We had some bags with us and picked up a lot of plastic, but it’s overwhelming how much there is when you start looking! It was so interesting learning about Green School, farming and the recycling projects!!

6. The Udaya

A wonderful big pool area surrounded by the jungle of Ubud and a famous spa – well that’s the Udaya resort. We absolutely loved the famous flower bath with loads of petals and tea and we fell in love with the yoga area on top of the hotel. From the rooftop you can see all the surrounding area.

7. Villa Cella Bella

Voted as on of the best airbnbs, this villa definitely keeps its promises. A big living room and kitchen area next to a long pool is the perfect meeting point with other guests. In front of the pool there are 2 nets on different levels to relax and kuddle.

The Sidemen Area – the authentic East of Bali

We highly recommend to explore the East of Bali. Most people skip this area of Bali, however it’s a place where you still can experience a very authentic picture of Bali.

1. Hideout Bali

Have we already told you that we are absolutely obsessed with cute bamboo villas? Well, Hideout Bali has 5 of them. Each villa is totally unique but the moment you step in you feel at home in every single one of them. We had the chance to stay in one, but explore three, Hideout Lightroom, Falcon and Horizon. We hope we can come back soon to also see Beehive and Hideout Bali. Yes we are obsessed with these villas! 😉

Each villa has a free scooter, a beautiful outdoor area, a lot of musical instruments and the owners will prepare you really good breakfast and dinner!

2. Camaya Bali

Our obsession for Bamboo-Architecture led us to another amazing place. This is the brand new Butterfly Villa at Camaya Bali. All the villas are so beautiful! The Butterfly Villa has it all, nets, jacuzzi, cinema on the first floor. Enjoying the sunrise and sunset over the rice fields from an open living room area with a jacuzzi felt like a dream. There are two seperate bedrooms, so you can share the prize. From Ubud you will need a little more than 1 hour to get there.

3. Jasri Bay Hideaway

We highly recommend to explore the East of Bali! There are so many beautiful remote places to visit and it was the perfect starting point for the Mount Agung viewpoint and the Pura Lempuyang temple. The huge villas are absolutely special – we never experienced something like that before. Sitting on the veranda it feels like you are living directly on the ocean. We could watch the huge waves breaking just 30 meters from our room for hours! It’s really meditative! And the infinity pool really deserves it’s name.

The North of Bali – exploring the jungle

More and more people explore the North of Bali, but it’s still a remote area. There are so many waterfalls around, volcanos and temples. We absolutely loved the North!

1. Munduk Moding Plantations

This is by far the most beautiful place in North Bali to enjoy sunset. Isn’t this view amazing? Because of the colder temperatures in the Munduk area there are often clouds at sunset. But when the clouds are lightened red this place looks absolutely surreal. It can be a lot colder in the North, especially in the morning, so bring some warm clothes with you!

The hotel is famous for its two pools on different levels with an incredible view. You should also book a tour through the Munduk Moding plantations, it’s really interesting!

2. Terrasse du Lac

Well this place isn’t a luxury experience, but we stayed there 3 nights and we absolutely enjoyed it! It’s a good affordable alternative for the North of Bali. The rooms are clean and come with a fireplace and the food is absolutely incredible! The best place to eat in the North!

The South of Bali – Uluwatu cliffs

The perfect first or last stop of your visit in Bali is the Bukit Peninsula with the famous cliffs of Uluwatu. The Peninsula is very close to the airport and a very chilled and beautiful place.

1. The Edge and One Eighty

We only stayed there in the evening to watch the sunset in the famous pool with a large overhang on the cliffs, named the edge. This pool is incredible! We were also able to test the blue waterfall next to the pool and the new restaurant one eigthy. You can stay there for the night or buy a day pass for the beach club. They created an incredible three-course menu for us!!

2. Adila Bali

We stayed there on our 2nd and 3rd Bali visit, because we absolutely love the vibes there! The house Adila is perched on a hill overlooking the lush green nature and the sea beyond. The two houses that form Adila were designed with ample open spaces to capture the wind and unobstructive view of the wide expanse. The roof top Joglo, the Bale, the pool deck, library and dining room, all add to the total living environment and provides enough gathering spaces for the various activities or just to chill out.

Places we would love to visit on our next Bali visit:

Kamandalu Ubud (Bali center)
Zen Hideaway (Bali center)
Bambuh Indah Resort (Bali center)
Kayon jungle Resort (Bali center)
Patal Kikian Villas (Bali East)
Wape di Ume Sidemen (Bali East)
Balquisse Heritage Hotel (near the airport)
Adiwana Dara Ayu (Bali center/north)
