Our first Balloon Flight over Bagan

Our first Balloon Flight over Bagan

After exploring the beautiful pagodas of Bagan on the ground for a few days, we had the chance to change the perspective and enjoy a beautiful balloon flight.

We chose “Balloons over Bagan” for our flight and can only recommend this company.

At 5:10 am a beautiful vintage bus stopped at our hotel and picked us up. After a friendly welcome we picked up some more guests at different hotels in Bagan. From the moment we entered the bus everything was nice and professional. After 20 minutes we arrived at the area where the Balloons take off. There was a dedicated area with chairs and coffee for each two balloons of the company. At that point it was still dark and the staff prepared the balloon on the ground. Chris and Robert, the pilot of our Balloon, did the safety-briefing.

While the sky started to change its color, all the balloons were filled with air. It was really beautiful to watch and we started to get really excited. Since we’ve never done a balloon flight before!

There is room for 16 guests and a pilot in each ballon. No worries, the baskets are larger than they seem and the pilot will rotate the balloon slowly, so you don’t miss anything!

If you wonder if it’s getting cold in the ballon – it’s not. You will travel with the wind, so you don’t feel it and the burner will keep you really warm!

After the balloons where filled, we climbed into the basket and shortly after, we took off. Just in time for sunrise. We watched the balloons every morning for the last few days and it felt great to enjoy the view from above. It was really nice to look for all the pagodas we’ve visited, and the small roads we explored.

After a 20 minute flight across the pagodas we landed near a canal road. Actually very close to the canal. But Robert had everything under control and gave us a good feeling the whole time.

The crew, about 15 local employees of Balloons over Bagan arrived minutes later with one of the nice vintage busses. They prepared a breakfast menu and some local people came to sell some souveniers. Robert told us, that it’s possible to replace the crew of fifteen by 3 people and some winches, but that the company wants to support the local community. He knew every of the local merchants by name and explained what they were offering.

After about half an hour every passenger got a certificate and a cap and the bus dropped everyone off at their hotels.

We really enjoyed the well organized and special experience and we can’t think of a better and more beautiful place to enjoy a balloon flight! This is one of the things you shouldn’t miss when you are in Myanmar!

Here are some moments of our beautiful balloon flight over Bagan! We always dreamed of doing this and will never forget these moments! We can’t imagine a better place and enjoyed every second of this perfect experience! Thanks to @balloonsoverbagan for having us!

*Anzeige/ ad We worked together with Balloons over Bagan to create beautiful pictures. This post represents our honest opinion about the flight.

We love to change the perspective when we travel!
